“Ensuring food products remain uncontaminated during their journey from field to tables worldwide is more important, and more regulated, than ever,” the manufacturer says in a release.
Product Features
Impact- and abrasion-resistant, Carflex HS Epoxy is designed to provide corrosion protection, flexibility and protection from cracks at flexing weld seams, according to Sherwin-Williams.
The product meets FDA 175.300 for direct contact dry bulk storage.
Carflex HS is 100 percent solids, contains zero solvents, has a VOC content of less than 100 grams per liter (16 g/L; 0.13 lb/gal, mixed), and is free of bisphenol A (BPA), which may be of concern to some agricultural producers.
Carflex HS can be used as a one-coat or two-coat system. The coating dries and cures quickly, leaving an easy-to-clean glossy surface, the manufacturer says.
Narsi Bodapati, Marketing VP for Sherwin-Williams Protective & Marine Coatings, calls the coating “a breakthrough product in the dry food storage and transportation segment.”
